Summary of Position:
The Senior Storage Systems Engineer will act as the Principal storage and backup architect for the Firm’s storage and backup systems. Reporting directly to the Manager of Infrastructure, this individual will be a technical hands-on administrator/engineer responsible for 24/7 support of the enterprise storage and backup services platforms and all related sub-systems. The Senior Storage Systems Engineer is responsible for ensuring that data is secure, accessible and recoverable. Performs proactive capacity planning, performance monitoring, tuning and routine maintenance. This position is located in the Greenville, SC administrative office and requires attendance in the office of work activities.

Manages, plans and provides direction for the enterprise EMC/Dell storage & Commvault backup infrastructure by designing, testing, configuring and implementing storage solutions.
Provide leadership for the development of operational and strategic direction for storage & backup software and hardware installation and maintenance processes.
Develop, implement and maintain proactive monitoring and capacity management processes and procedures.
Must be available for a rotating on all duty to provide 24/7/365 coverage.
Knowledge of information life-cycle management concepts and best practices. Adhere to strict change control processes.
Develop and maintain technical documentation at a Technical Writer competency level.
Monitor, diagnose, and resolve problems and perform analysis in relation to storage in the integrated IT environment and software.
Measure capacity and performance trends & maintain a long term capacity plan.
Provide systems metrics, root cause analysis and proactive monitoring and communicate any performance degradation to management.
Apply software upgrades, security patches and planned maintenance of the enterprise storage and backup environment.
Work closely with Server Administration. Network, Messaging and Security Teams to ensure optimum efficiency of the environment.
Provide other consulting and technical services as necessary for the successful completion of projects.
Mentors junior team members on process and procedures.
Perform storage/server/database transaction and security audits leading to identification and mitigation of security threats to enterprise data. Recommend and implement changes where necessary.
8+ years’ experience as a Storage Backup architect/administrator in a large, enterprise environment.
8 + years’ experience with Microsoft environments including common suites sand core applications, Active Directory, file/folder permission and DFS. Able to automate tasks and document them for others to use.
Dell/EMC Proven professional certification highly desired
ITIL Foundation certification
Bachelor’s Degree in technology related field of study from an accredited college or university.
Extensive experience with server virtualization technology, preferably Hyper-V.
Extensive experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2012.
Detailed operational knowledge of storage technologies including EMC VNX/Dell Compellent.
Detailed operational knowledge of backup software such as Commvault.
Experience with capacity planning, Fibre Channel, Zoning, fabric topologies, volume and file high availability, storage consolidation/migration, performance and tuning.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to perform at a high level of effectiveness in a fast paced environment.
