King & Spalding, a leading global law firm, is currently seeking an Associate Director of Recruiting to support firmwide recruiting and talent development by providing strategic direction for local associate recruiting while executing firmwide initiatives. This role offers the opportunity to design, execute, evaluate, and improve programs and procedures related to recruiting lawyers. This position will be responsible for lateral and summer associate hiring in New York, and other firmwide initiatives. The Associate Director will work collaboratively and directly with partners, senior staff, and other stakeholders around the Firm to identify needs and ensure the programs and services are world-class.

Candidates will have the following responsibilities:
Lateral Attorney Hiring
Work with lawyers to determine hiring needs and best ways to source candidates.
Review candidate resumes and coordinate interview schedules.
Interview candidates; serve as firm liaison for candidates.
Prepare offer packages, welcome letters, and announcement for new hires
Engage search firms when necessary
Track lateral attorney referrals
Summer Associate Hiring and Summer Program
Working with other stakeholders, refine and continuously improve programs and processes related to:
On-campus and callback interviews.
On-campus and Spring recruiting initiatives (student receptions, speaking engagements, etc.)
Cultivating strategic relationships with Career Services professionals, law student groups, and affinity groups to advance the Firm’s strategies.
Be a Firm ambassador to help raise the profile of King & Spalding in New York and on campus.
Manage recruiting database.
Develop and manage budget.
Manage candidate reimbursements for travel and expenses.
Work closely with Director of Administration and participate as a member of the New York Management Team.
Participate in firmwide recruiting initiatives.
Keep abreast of key market issues and trends. Track information and analyze competitive data, best practices, and trends to make recommendations to adopt when appropriate.
Successful candidates will be creative, curious, and innovative; takes initiative to identify and translate best practices from other firms and industries into viable Firm initiatives. Candidates must have knowledge of law firm business model principles and legal industry trends and challenges; and be able to assimilate information quickly in order to grasp larger concepts and details, and apply it in other settings. Candidates must be able to grasp quickly the culture and organizational structure of the Firm; and have a desire for increasingly challenging projects and heightened responsibility/visibility. Candidates should have excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills with lawyers, all levels of administrative staff, and contacts outside the Firm; and sophisticated analytical and quantitative abilities (e.g., able to collect and use data to make decisions, including ability to use tools such as Excel). Candidates must have strong judgment and ability to respect, protect, and maintain highly confidential and sensitive information; and excellent collaboration, facilitation, influencing, and organizational skills, with the ability to work proactively to obtain information and develop the consensus needed to make decision. Strong attention to detail combined with ability to develop big-picture goals; and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively with professionals and staff at all levels is a must. Candidates should also be able to demonstrate the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously without frequent prompting; and the ability to work under tight deadlines and maintain poise under pressure.
The ideal candidate will have a J.D. and at least 3+ years of experience in a senior professional development/talent management role in a law firm or other professional services environment. Candidates without a J.D. will also be considered if they have an undergraduate degree and at least 5 years’ experience in a similar senior role in a professional services firm. Candidates without professional development/talent management experience will be considered if they have a J.D. and at least 5 years’ experience as a practicing lawyer in a law firm.
