Fagen Friedman & Fulfrost LLP, an education law firm, has an immediate opening for a Lateral Associate in our Fresno office.
Ideal candidates should have 3-5 years of legal experience and a desire to work with public school districts in the area of special education. Candidates with fewer years of legal experience who have prior work experience in education and/or ADR will also be considered. Strong research and writing skills required. Litigation or administrative hearing experience preferred.
This position involves building client relationships at the local level and could evolve into one which influences education policy on a wider scale. It affords an opportunity for attorneys seeking to more frequently advocate for clients outside of the adversarial context of traditional litigation. Work includes assisting clients in the individualized education program process, presenting workshops, reviewing and revising policies and procedures, responding to state and federal compliance complaints, and administrative due process hearings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strong research and writing skills
Assume significant client responsibility, including maintaining regular contact with clients
Significant travel to clients throughout the Central Valley of California with occasional travel to other areas of the State.
