Job duties: As the Lead Public Health Attorney, this position will manage the administration, direction, and coordination of a team of Public Health Attorneys for DHHS. Responsibilities include supervision, management, and mentoring of the team’s work goals and performance, as well as ensuring consistent application of administrative policies, procedures, and legal requirements.

Hiring rate of position: Negotiable; commensurate with education and/or experience, if approved.
Qualifications / Requirements
Three years of experience as an attorney practicing law and providing legal services such as preparing and trying cases, advising clients, and/or interpreting laws or administrative policies. In accordance with Section 7-101, Nebraska Revised, Reissued Statutes of l943, incumbents in this class must be admitted to the Nebraska Bar.
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Experience managing or leading legal staff or legal operations. Current knowledge or the ability to quickly grasp public health principles, law, and policy. Facilitate solutions between multiple parties, interact with other governmental agencies, the public, and representatives of parties involved in a case; formulate legal opinions and recommendations based on legal research and investigations; conduct or coordinate legal research interpret and apply statutes, case law, decisions of judicial and administrative hearings, and administrative rules and policies; assign and evaluate work of assigned staff.
